HISTORY

As the story goes, sometimes ago, a group of settlers came within the vicinity and the first thing they noticed way in the way that there was plenty of cacao trees planted in the area. The southern part was Marfrancisco while in the northern part was Macanlig. It could only be surmised that the first of this place perhaps, fetched their respective families from where they came from and then settled in this place for good. Resident of the area then multiplied in time. Town Councilor Metin named the people the same name call the place CACAWAN. A request then made and approved by the municipal council under the administration of Mayor Reynaldo Morente and the barangay was created in 1969.

 

Since then the place was popularly known as Cacawan. The basis of its creation was though the iniciative of municipal Councilor Ariston Mitin under the administration of Mayor Reynaldo Morente in 1969. The first Barangay Captain was Hon. Jovito Lacay who was appointed by Mayor Reynaldo Morente followed by Hon. Servillano Manay  then Hon. Francisco Jalaan, Hon. Belen Conde, Hon. Pura M. Ferancullo and at the oresent Hon. Marilyn T. Marasigan.
